Week of November 28

Monday November 28 - Wednesday November 30 - Dress rehearsal right after school until 7:30 pm on Monday and 8:00 pm Tuesday and Wednesday!

Everyone must attend! There can be no absences or early dismissal! This will be the first time experiencing the scaffold set and all the props.

If you are concerned about getting homework done, then speak to your teachers and let them know your schedule for the week. Most teachers are willing to be flexible as long as you approach them first. Don't forget to invite them to the show!

Please bring your own makeup bag containing foundation, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, hairbrush and hair clips/ribbons if desired. Sharing makeup and hairbrushes is strongly discouraged for hygiene reasons! Makeup will be left in the drama room.

There will be a dinner break around 6pm. Cast and crew members must bring their own dinner. Parents may bring their cast/crew member a hot dinner.

Show opens Thursday. All cast and crew report to the stage right after school. Dinner will be provided.

Get as much rest as possible during the Thanksgiving break. Don't forget to have fun!

Week of November 14

Just a little over two weeks until the show opens! The excitement is building.
Saturday's rehearsal was busy and productive. Ask your cast/crew member how it went.

This week is rehearsal as usual with the added bonus of a sitzprobe on Friday for both casts. Sitzprobe (German) is a term used in opera and musical theatre to describe a seated rehearsal where the singers sing with the orchestra, focusing attention on integrating the two groups. It is often the first rehearsal where the orchestra and singers rehearse together. This is a more of a technical rehearsal for the cast with lots of stops and starts but extremely important and attendance is mandatory. We will work with the cast about what is expected of them. Sitzprobe rehearsal is right after school until 6:30 pm.

Wednesday is the teaser at Lincoln for the cast members in 6, 7, & 8 grade. Please bring your CAST t-shirt to wear. We plan to leave the Sylvans at 10:20 and return by 12:10. If you have not completed a permission slip, which was emailed to you, please do so and send it with your cast member to rehearsal. If you have a scanner, then print the permission slip, sign it, scan it and email it back to me. No permission slip means no attending the teaser.

We need one more driver. Please contact me ASAP if you can help. Otherwise we will have to do a lottery on who gets left behind.

Committee chairs are working hard to make sure all is ready for opening night. Thanks to all of you for answering the call for volunteers! The return on all your volunteer hours will be clear on show nights!

Week of November 7th Update

Since there is no school this Thursday, November 10, there will be no rehearsal.

Last Saturday's rehearsal was great! Lots got done and we celebrated Andrew's birthday! Thanks to everyone for bringing costumes. Paul had a few specific comments, so ask your cast member if he/she has any changes to his/her costume.

This Saturday, November 12, we get to do the whole thing all over again!!!! (except the Andrew's birthday part). Same list applies:

Rehearsal for all cast and crew members is from 9:45am - 4pm in the lower gym.

Please enter the gym through the lower outside door, down beyond the tennis courts. The rest of the school will be locked.

Bring a lunch and a water bottle.

Also, the set for the stage is scaffolding. I have arranged to rent scaffolding from Barbur Rentals. Before I pay for delivery, I would like know if anyone has access to a truck that could transport 20 sections of 5x5 scaffolding during the day on Monday, November 28th? Please let me know ASAP if you do have a truck.

Tickets are now available for purchase on line. Just go to http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/210246

Personal messages in the program for cast and crew are due Tuesday, November 8. Email to Grace, at grace@leeus.org, a message up to 80 characters. EXAMPLE: “John, we think you rock. Your friends” “Jane, you are our star. Love, Grandma” or “We love you. Mom and Dad” Personal messages are $10 and the check should be made out to West Sylvan PTA and sent to school with your cast/crew member. The kids love counting how many messages they receive!

Show dates are getting close, things are getting busy, so hang in there and thanks for all your help.

Practice Days

Hi All,

So to clarify the requirements for rehearsals.

Monday and Wednesday are for the entire cast and Tuesday and Thursday are for principals and spot work.  Therefore you should be at practice every Monday and Wednesday and come the other two days if you are told to do so by Paul.

May 1st all four days are required until closing.

I hope this helps.

DVD and CD

Hi Everyone,

We're looking at getting DVD's and CD's to you before Spring break.  My apologies for the delay but Bob is catching up on work and will be taking some time off (a vacation!) too, so we'll just have to wait.

I would be nice to get everyone together and watch the tape as a group.  If any of you have a suggestion of a space we could use for that, please let me know.  I can always ask the school if we can view it there.

All the best!

Costume Returns

Thank you to everyone who has already returned their costumes to East or West Sylvan.

If you still need to return a costume the rack is still outside the drama room door and I'll clear it on Friday.

If you drop off clothes at East, please let me know so they're not getting in Louise's way.

All the best,
Elaine
