Advertising Posters

I am looking for parents to distribute posters to local business, clubs, libraries, theatres, etc.

We have delivered the posters to our feeder schools and Lincoln.  If you haven't seen them there please come and take another one.  We need to spread the word.

I will leave some in the Drama Room this week if you have somewhere you'd like to put them.  I have more coming from the printers shortly.

Thanks for your help!

Costuming

Here is where we can discuss costuming.

The time stamp is 1950's the look is a cartoon crayola version.

Every cast member will need a men's hat from that time.  Fedora being the easiest to identify.

We need loud suits and shirts, loud ties, 1950's dresses, sweaters or slacks.

Boys will wear dress shoes, many will be painted.  If you have some in your Goodwill pile bring them in.

Girls will wear ballet flats for easy of movement and sound.

Mission Band and Jr. Cast: a navy blue bottom, pleated shorts, skirt, pants that we can shorten.  A blue buttoned shirt.  Grey or black long socks.  Dark shoes.  (Jazz shoes would work).

Hot Box Girls: bring an old pair of blue jeans that we can cut into shorts.  If you have a spare pair please bring them along.

Policeman's uniform x 2
Mechanic's overalls x 1
Blue skirt for Sarah Brown - pleated or long

I'm opening this for discussion so everyone can check in if they find something or have a question.

Thanks everyone.

Elaine

Saturday Rehearsal

The plan for Saturday.

Arrive after 9.30am to be ready to start rehearsal at 10am.

Cast and Crew please remember to bring your packed lunches, water and wear clothes you can move in.

Crew, please have patience as we start to work on the stage.  Connor will need some help, I will need some help and there will need to be someone helping on stage.  There will be lots of waiting around.  Please remember your job is to make the show look good so talking in the wings or running through the gym is not going to help.
Lunch break from 11.30 to 12.
Jr. Cast/ Mission Band arrive for 12 start.
Everyone leaves at 4pm.

Rules for rehearsal.

We have access to the lower gym and stage only.
We cannot enter the school proper under any circumstances
Please come to the lower gym doors past the tennis courts.
Please make sure you clean up after yourselves, we cannot leave a mess.

Work to be done.

We will start assigning costumes for characters and take measurements.
Please know what size clothing you normally wear and shoe sizes.

Stage:

Pull out the platforms and set up on gym floor
Set up ramp in front of platforms
We need to hang the cyc.  Large white back drop pegged to black curtain. (Volunteers? 3 for safety.)
We will discuss bill board signs and work out a plan at 11.30am

Cast:
Nancy Jackson will take orders for The Leotard after lunch on Saturday.  Please place an order with her if you do not have a nude leotard and footless tights or you need to order a new set.

Things we need

If you have men's shoes that fit you that we can paint for the show, please bring them with you.  (Big brother's dancing school shoes?)
If you can find a men's hat that you can use for the show, please bring it.  Fedoras in straw, felt, wool.  Colours welcome and we may add a coloured band to them.  Grandpa, Target, Goodwill, see what you can find.

Concession Stand & Kiss-O-Grams

Coordinator for Concessions Needed

We are looking for a contact person who will coordinate concessions.

An overview of what concessions does...

We order pizzas delivered
We buy candy and drinks from Costco or other.
We buy roses.
We make popcorn (and maybe cookies).

We have volunteers to man the tables on show nights and we will have student volunteers to help out.
We ask one person to make a run to Costco on show days.
We have a finance person to deal with money.  (Thanks Amanda!)

Our concessions person would be the point of contact for volunteers.  He/she would schedule volunteers, take stock of supplies and coordinate orders and shopping.

We can split this into smaller pieces if we need to.

Craft Genius Needed - vacancy filled (Thanks Grace!)

We need someone to take on the creation of our kiss-o-grams this year also.  We have logos and ideas so if you like craft projects, this one's for you!

Thanks for having a look.  We can't do this without you.

I'm opening this up for discussion so anyone interested can ask questions or make suggestions.
As always anyone taking a lead role will have all the support they need from Karen and Elaine.

CAST - Undergarment requirements

All female CAST will need to have their own nude colored camisole leotard and leggings.

We can place a group order with 'The Leotard'.

Nancy Jackson will take orders after lunch on Saturday.  Please see her with your sizing.

Check with each actor that they still fit into what they have or place an order.

Approx. cost $10 footless tights, $20 leotard.
Final amount will be available when ordered.

If you would rather go and find your own undergarments, please do.

Boys

Please find close fitting shorts or boxer/briefs and t-shirts to wear under your costumes at all times.  White shirts and darker shorts work well.

If you need help sourcing these please let me know.

We need every actor wearing underwear that stays put when changing and doesn't show while in costume.

Guys & Dolls - Attendance

Dear Company,

I'm getting a lot of questions about attendance and sports or other commitments.  Here is a list of points that might help clarify the situation.
  • You may take one day or part of one day off rehearsal with Directors approval for a sport or commitment unless it impacts the quality of the program
  • After November 15th you will attend all rehearsals for the duration
  • If you are sick you will notify Elaine or Paul before 3.45pm
  • If you are absent from school you may not attend rehearsals on that day
  • If you miss 4 days of school or rehearsal you will be asked to leave the show
  • All mandatory rehearsals are mandatory.  (exceptions only for Thanksgiving and only if you are out of state.)
As we keep telling the Company, we need you to be at rehearsals or we cannot put on a show.  This program takes commitment and stamina and we expect our Company to show both.  I hope this answers any questions you have.  If not, please contact me.

Elaine

After the Show

Dear Joseph Families,

Thank you so much for all your help and support. Your children were amazing and have worked so hard and should be very proud of themselves.

We will have a DVD available in the near future. I will let you know.

There is a photo CD being put together also, and we will let you know.

We are planning on going to see the Lincoln musical as a group in the coming weeks. I'm waiting to see which kids are on which nights. I'll let you know.

If you have any clothing that needs to be returned to WSMS, you can leave it in the office and either text or call me and I'll make sure it's all put away.

Thanks again,
Elaine
